South Coast of Tanzania

Given its proximity to a large city, the coastline of Ras Kutani, about 50km South of Dar es Salaam, is still fairly wild, with wide sandy beaches and a back-country of forests, cashew-nut trees plantations and small farms.
With the hypnotic Zanzibar being so close, it can be difficult to attract clients on this mainland coast, but acommodation here is less expensive than the equivalent on the Spice Island and for sure as good.
The coast here has endless palm-fringed beaches  and offshore reefs, as you would expect from a tropical beach. And  two major absentees: hotels and tourists.
But there are also no diving center or any water sports in this region. It is therefore clearly a destination for relaxation.
