Lake Tanganyika is located on the Western border of the Tanzania. This huge water reserve is the longest lake in the world, (720 km long) and the second deepest lake in the world (1, 470 m).

Also spelled Tanganika, this lake, the longest in the world, the second in the world by its volume and depth, and the second African lake by its surface, is part of the Great Lakes of Africa.

Landscapes: We often talk about it as the meeting place in Africa between North, East, West and South, the lake being a kaleidoscope of culture, landscapes and nature.

The way of life of the inhabitants of the lake hasn't changed much over the centuries, while the influence of Arabia can be seen in the design of wooden boats.

The traditions are still well established in the villages on the shores of the lake, where fishing is the way of life, with the respect of the lake spirit omnipresent.

Considered a unique biological habitat on earth, Lake Tanganyika is also a showcase because of its balance and its age.

A large part of the coast consists of high escarpments falling directly into the lake, interspersed with capes and long pristine beaches.

Fauna: Tanganyika Lake s absolutely unique in terms of the diversity of underwater life. More than 2,000 plants and animals live there, of which 600 are endemic.

One of the marvels of the lake's evolution is the fish of the African cichlid group. Differentiated by size, shape, color or behavior, they are the center of interest for fish lovers, who can discover more than 300 species here.

Activities: You can do as much or as much as you like.

With water permanently around 26 ° and visibility of 15 meters, and the aquatic diversity of the lake, it is clear that diving, or snorkeling, is the recommended activity. You will swim in a life-size aquarium…

If you wish to fish, you can go with the local villagers, but also on kayak, or simply from the beach.

Quads are available to explore the shores and the villages while kayaks will allow you to discover the lake itself and its islands.

And for those who want to relax more than move, a Spa offers different massages.

Climate: The only variation here is in the rainfall. The rainy season goes in principle from November to March / April. The rains generally begin with electrical storms. Then it rains for about 2 hours, the sky clears up and everything is clean and clear.

All year the temperatures vary between 24 ° and 32 °. Most of the time, a light breeze on the lake regulates temperatures wonderfully.

At the end of the evening, the temperature can sometimes drop to 22 ° / 24 °. A light jacket is therefore recommended for dinners on the beach!
